TRUMP TARIFFS
INDIA WARNS OF RETALIATORY TARIFFS ON US GOODS
India's government has notified the World Trade Organization that it is considering retaliatory duties on imports from the United States. The administration of President Donald Trump has placed an additional 25% tariff on all imports of automobiles and major auto parts. The notification, sent to the WTO on Friday, says the additional tariff would allow the US to collect $723 million. India says it reserves a right to withdraw or modify their proposal, suggesting that the retaliatory duties may be called off depending on how Washington reacts.

AIRLINES TO KEEP POWER BANKS OUT OF OVERHEAD BINS
Japanese airlines will ask passengers to keep power banks for portable devices out of overhead bins due to the risk of fires. Airlines and the transport ministry decided to implement the policy on Tuesday.Power banks are used to charge smartphones, tablets and other devices.
They contain lithium ion batteries. Experts say they can catch fire if dropped or knocked around.
The ministry says this has caused fires on airplanes. Investigators in South Korea say a fire on a passenger jet in January may have been caused by a power bank stored inside an overhead bin. And in April, a similar fire on a flight from Honolulu forced the aircraft to make an emergency landing at Tokyo's Haneda Airport.
Airlines plan to make the request to passengers both before and after boarding. Travelers will also be asked to keep their devices in sight while charging. An official with the transport ministry says if users keep power banks close, any fires can be quickly spotted and extinguished.
