CNN: US GOVT. OFFICIALS DISCUSS POSSIBLE TRUMP-KIM SUMMIT

CNN reports that White House officials have privately discussed setting up a meeting between U.S. President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
The report says the officials are considering the meeting during Trump's Asian tour scheduled for late this month.
He's set to visit Japan and South Korea.
The U.S. TV network quotes sources as saying that many officials are skeptical that the summit with Kim will ultimately happen.
They reportedly say that unlike during Trump's first term, there have not been any communications between Washington and Pyongyang.
Back in August, Trump was hosting South Korean President Lee Jae-myung at the White House when he was asked by reporters about the possibility of meeting with Kim.
Trump said he would like to meet Kim this year, but didn't give a specific date.

BEAR ATTACKS CONTINUE IN JAPAN

Two bear attacks occurred in the same Japanese town on Saturday amid a rising number of incidents involving the animals.
A resident of the town of Minakami Gunma prefecture, north of Tokyo, alerted police around 4 p.m. Saturday that a woman had been attacked while walking a dog.
The police say the 76-year-old woman was mauled on the ear and buttocks by what's believed to be an adult bear.
They say her injuries were serious.
Earlier at 1:30 p.m. in a forest about eight kilometers away from the first attack, a 64-year-old man was attacked by a bear.
He sustained a fractured facial bone and scratches.
The police also say this is not the first time a bear attack has occurred in the area.
Last Monday, a bear attacked and injured an elderly couple who were taking a walk.
Another woman in her 70s was injured by a bear while doing yard work.
On Sunday in Akita Prefecture, northern Japan, a 40-year-old man was attacked by a bear, also while walking.
PACIFIC SAURY FESTIVAL HELD IN KESENNUMA
00:06:21 話者 1
People in the northeastern Japanese city of Kisenema were able to enjoy free-grilled Pacific sori on Saturday.
The location was a tourist facility near this fishing port in Miyagi Prefecture, where a festival was held for the first time in six years.
The facility was destroyed by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami, but was rebuilt in 2014.
And then festival events had to be canceled for five years from 2020 until 2024 because of the coronavirus pandemic and poor fish catches.
But Saturday's event took place amid large sori catches in waters around the country.
1,000 freshly caught sori, each weighing in at about 150 grams, were grilled and handed out free of charge.
