The Chinese government says it has suspended additional retaliatory tariffs on 3,361 US goods that were due to take effect on Sunday.
Chinese officials also say the partial exemptions for US soy beans and pork will remain in place. Additional duties on US-made cars and auto parts were suspended in January. The suspension will continue.
The decision comes after the world's two largest economies agreed on a "phase one" trade deal on Friday. China says it will import more US farm products and work to protect intellectual property.
The United States said it will lower some tariffs on Chinese imports, and also suspend the planned additional duties on Chinese mobile phones.
The announcements may somewhat ease the tit-for-tat exchange of tariffs that began last year. But it is unclear if the US-China trade dispute will be finally resolved as there are differences in their understanding of the agreement and stances toward future negotiations.

Police in Hong Kong have arrested five teenagers on suspicion of causing a man's death last month.
The 70-year-old cleaner was hit in the head by a brick while filming a clash between protesters and residents in the New Territories. He later died in hospital.
Police offered a reward of about 100,000 US dollars for information. The five suspects aged between 15 and 18 were arrested on Friday.
Chinese President Xi Jinping told Hong Kong's Chief Executive Carrie Lam last month that ending violence and chaos and restoring order remain the top priority for Hong Kong. He urged Lam to stop violent acts and punish the perpetrators in accordance with the law to safeguard the well-being of the public.
Lam is scheduled to meet Xi again in Beijing on Monday to give her annual report on the situation in the territory.

The chief of the General Staff of North Korea's military has commented on what Pyongyang calls "tests of great significance." Pak Jong Chon indicated the results will be used to develop another weapon against the US nuclear threat.
Pak issued a statement through the state-run Korean Central News Agency on Saturday night.
Pyongyang says it conducted two tests at the Sohae Satellite Launching Ground this month. Analysts believe the tests were related to missile technology.
Pak said the results of the tests "will be fully applied to the development of another strategic weapon" of North Korea. He said the weapon will be designed "for definitely and reliably restraining and overpowering the nuclear threat of the US."
A similar message was included in a statement released earlier on Saturday by North Korea's Academy of Defense Science.
Pak also said North Korea has "stored up a tremendous power." He said "the US and other hostile forces will spend the year-end in peace only when they hold off any words and deeds rattling" North Korea.
Pyongyang had earlier urged Washington to make concessions by the end of the year to break the impasse in their denuclearization talks.
Pak's statement leaves the door to dialogue open by saying North Korea should be "familiar with both dialogue and confrontation."

One of two North Korean restaurants in Moscow is expected to stay open despite UN sanctions. Under resolutions passed by the UN Security Council in 2017, North Koreans who are working in other countries must be repatriated by December 22.
North Korea has been using the restaurants to earn foreign currency. One of them has shut down. A source tells NHK that visas for its employees have not been renewed.
The other restaurant is still open, and members of the staff say there are no plans to close it. They say it will operate during the year-end and New Year period.
Official registration data show the president of the company that manages the restaurant is a Russian national. But its founder, who collects all the profits, is believed to be a North Korean national.
Russia is believed to have stopped issuing working visas to North Koreans in accordance with the UN sanctions. But sources say the founder might try to stay in Russia by using a different visa.
Moscow-based diplomats are keeping an eye on the situation. They think Pyongyang may be trying to find loopholes in the UN sanctions.

A ceremony has been held to mark the completion of the main stadium for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympics. Construction of the new National Stadium was finished late last month.
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike, and architect Kengo Kuma, who was involved in design of the stadium, took part in the event on Sunday.
Abe said he hopes the sports venue completed in the new era of Reiwa will witness events that go down in sports history.
Participants in the ceremony pushed a button on the stage, and then a massive screen showed people celebrating the completion of the stadium.
Governor Koike said the stadium is something she can boast about to the world.
She added she will continue to work hard to make the Tokyo Games an event that will remain in the record books and people's memories.
The stadium has around 60,000 seats, which come in a variety of colors, like green and brown, to create an image like a mosaic. Above the seats are the 60-meter wooden eaves of the roof designed to maintain harmony with the surrounding greenery.
The stadium will be shown to the public in an event on Saturday. The first sports event at the venue will be the Emperor's Cup soccer final on New Year's day.

A winery in a Chilean desert is drawing attention for using grapes that are grown by taking advantage of differences in nighttime and daytime temperatures.
The winery began growing grapes in the Atacama Desert eight years ago. It started producing wine four years ago, and has been selling trial products to local restaurants.
It now plans to begin full-scale sales of its "wine from the desert" next year.
The average altitude of the desert is 2,000 meters above sea level.
The Atacama has been called the driest place in the world. It is known for its unchanging weather conditions, with very little rainfall.
The winemaker says climate change has pushed up temperatures, widening the gap between daytime highs and nighttime lows.
In recent years daytime highs have sometimes topped 30 degrees Celsius. At night, the mercury can fall to nearly zero.
The winemaker says that makes it possible to produce wine with a vivid color and a rich taste.

Japanese cosmetics firms have teamed up with electronics manufacturers to develop beauty-care appliances.
Kao partnered with Panasonic to create a cosmetic-liquid diffuser.
A potion sprayed by the device forms a veil of superfine fiber over the user's skin. The veil can stay in place overnight and help to maintain a moisture-rich environment.
Kose tied up with Casio Computer, which has inkjet printing technology.
They developed a printer that can automatically recognize the shapes of nails inserted into it and paint a design of the user's choice on them.
It takes about 15 seconds for the printer to paint one nail. The device targets consumers who are busy with their work and household chores but still want to enjoy nail art.
Cosmetics firms' expansion into the beauty-appliance market comes amid intensifying competition in their industry.
A senior official of Kose says his firm will join hands with companies in electronics and other sectors to offer products and services that will solve beauty-related issues for many consumers.

With about two weeks to go before the New Year, people have been cleaning western Japan's Matsue Castle -- a designated national treasure.
The castle tower is given a cleanup every year around this time.
About 100 members of local volunteer groups and others gathered early Sunday morning.
Some used bamboo sticks more than five meters long with bamboo leaves on one end to clean the tower and outer walls. Others used rags to scrub pillars, windows and floors.
One person said it was a great opportunity to clean a national treasure together with a child.
A child said he enjoyed cleaning the castle.
A man in his 60s said he feels refreshed after helping to clean the castle. He said he is ready to ring in the New Year.
400,000 people visit Matsue Castle each year. Visitors on New Year's Day can look at the first sunrise of the year from the top of the castle tower, which stands 30 meters high.
