Indonesian rescuers say they have found what appear to be human body parts and debris from a missing passenger plane.
The Sriwijaya Air Boeing 737-500 disappeared from radar shortly after taking off from an airport outside Jakarta on Saturday. It was bound for Pontianak in West Kalimantan Province with 62 people on board.
The National Search and Rescue Agency and the navy have been searching waters about 17 kilometers north of the airport. Officials say they found what may be human body parts and wreckage of the aircraft.
On Sunday morning, what appeared to be a slide for an emergency exit was brought into the agency's task force that was set up at a port in northern Jakarta.
Authorities are continuing to search for survivors from the crew and passengers, who are all Indonesian.
In 2018, a Boeing 737 Max 8 jet crashed off Indonesia, killing 189 people on board.
Boeing issued a statement on Saturday, saying it is in contact with the airline and stands ready to support it.

North Korea's state media says the country's leader, Kim Jong Un, has been elected as general secretary of the ruling Workers' Party. The post was held by his late father, Kim Jong Il.
The Monday edition of the party's newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, says the decision was made on the sixth day of a party congress in Pyongyang on Sunday.
It quotes the congress as saying in a statement that it fully supported a proposal to promote Kim to general secretary.
The statement also says Kim has completed plans to build up North Korea's nuclear capabilities and turned the country into a world military power.
At a party congress five years ago, Kim took up the newly-created post of party chairman.

Yokozuna Grand Champion Hakuho was among the wrestlers who tested positive.
Following the declaration of a state of emergency in Tokyo on Friday, the Japan Sumo Association capped the number of spectators at 5,000.
Chairman Hakkaku apologized for the concerns caused by the infection of multiple wrestlers. He said the association is implementing detailed preventive measures as advised by experts, such as testing all members.
Food and drinks are banned at the venue, and the association is limiting the number of people who can enter the eating area at one time.

Japan's health ministry says four people who arrived at Tokyo's Haneda Airport earlier this month were infected with a coronavirus variant different from those found in Britain and South Africa.
The ministry says the four people are in their teens to their 40s and all of them had stayed in the state of Amazonas in Brazil.
They were found to be infected with the coronavirus at Haneda on January 2. The National Institute of Infectious Diseases analyzed their samples and found the virus is a new strain.
This is the first time this particular coronavirus variant has been detected in airport quarantine checks in Japan.

Chinese authorities have told residents of two cities in Hebei Province, near Beijing, to stay home for at least seven days as coronavirus cases increase in the province.
According to the National Health Commission, a total of 334 new infections were confirmed in Hebei in the week through Friday, including people without symptoms.
Many of the cases were confirmed in the provincial capital Shijiazhuang. The city has launched mass testing of its more than 10 million residents. Local authorities also told everyone to stay home for at least one week after their PCR tests.
Authorities say similar measures are being taken in the neighboring city of Xingtai, which has some 7 million residents.
China has said that the coronavirus outbreak was basically under control. But authorities are stepping up vigilance as new infections have also been confirmed in the northeastern province of Liaoning.

NHK has learned that Japan's health ministry is considering limiting the use of Pfizer's coronavirus vaccine to people aged 16 or older for the time being.
Last month, Pfizer sought approval in Japan for its vaccine, jointly developed with German partner BioNTech. It's the only supplier that has applied for authorization in the country.
Sources say the health ministry is considering excluding under-16s because the vaccine's ongoing clinical trial in Japan involves only adults aged 20 or older.
They say the results of trials conducted abroad also lack sufficient data on children 15 or younger. The lower risk of children developing severe symptoms from the virus is said to be another factor.
The United States and Britain have already rolled out the Pfizer vaccine. They, too, limit its use to people 16 or older.
Japan's heath ministry will finalize the target-age based on data from the domestic clinical trial. It plans to swiftly study the vaccine's safety and efficacy, and hopes to start inoculating healthcare workers in late February.
Japan has an agreement with Pfizer to obtain enough doses of the vaccine for 60 million people in the first half of this year.

Japan is marking Coming of Age Day on Monday, a national holiday honoring people reaching the legal start of adulthood at age 20. Among the youngsters celebrating this year is a swimming star who has returned to competition after fighting leukemia.
Ikee Rikako, who turned 20 last July, says she will strive to be both a strong adult and athlete. She released a photo of herself wearing a kimono that was taken in September.
Ikee returned to competition last August, racing in events such as the Inter College Swimming Championships in October. She has continued training since her comeback.
But the coronavirus pandemic is casting a shadow over this year's holiday. Ikee says she has been able to welcome the Coming of Age Day safely despite circumstances that were unimaginable a year ago.
Ikee is set to compete in the Kosuke Kitajima Cup starting on January 22. That will be her first event of the year and her first 100-meter freestyle race since going back to competition.
