US President Donald Trump doesn't appear to be worried by criticism against his plan to impose import tariffs.
He tweeted on Saturday that the United States will apply a tariff on European cars if the EU wants to further increase tariffs and barriers.
He had earlier tweeted that trade wars are good and easy to win.

A senior White House official says no countries will be excluded from planned heavy tariffs on imported steel and aluminum products.
President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that his administration will impose a 25 percent tariff on steel imports and a 10 percent tariff on aluminum imports. The materials are used for manufacturing fighter jets and naval ships.
Citing a threat to US national security, Trump said that the country has been importing steel and aluminum at unfairly low prices due to overproduction in China.
The Trump administration apparently believes that overproduction in China has weighed down international prices of steel and aluminum, and that as a result, cheap products are flowing into the US.
It also believes it is necessary to target not only China but also all other nations.
A senior official at the White House said on Friday that the President made it clear that the decision would be an across-the-board tariff and there would be no exemptions.
The official noted that one problem with exclusions is that it's a slippery slope and it's impossible to know where to stop.
Trump's decision has angered US trade partners, including China.
But he said in a defiant Twitter posting on Friday that "trade wars are good and easy to win."

South Korea's presidential office has announced that it will send a delegation of senior officials to North Korea on Monday.
President Moon Jae-in has chosen the head of the National Security Office, Chung Eui-yong, and the chief of the National Intelligence Service, Suh Hoon, as his special envoys.
Chung will lead the 10-member delegation and spend 2 days in Pyongyang.
The presidential office said the delegates will travel to the North to reciprocate for last month's visit by the North Korean leader's younger sister, Kim Yo Jong.
The delegation will meet senior North Korean officials to discuss improving inter-Korean relations, as well as creating an environment for talks between North Korea and the United States on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
After the delegation returns home, the South Korean government plans to send senior officials to the United States to give a briefing on the discussions in Pyongyang.

Germany's second largest political party says a majority of its members have approved a coalition with the bloc led by Chancellor Angela Merkel.
The result gives Merkel a fourth term in office. It also breaks 5 months of political deadlock.
The center-left Social Democratic Party, or SPD, announced on Sunday that there were 360,000 valid votes and about 66 percent of them were in favor of the coalition.
The ballot was carried out from February 20th through March 2nd. More than 460,000 members of the SPD were eligible to vote.
Merkel's center-right bloc, which includes the Christian Democratic Union and the Christian Social Union, had struggled to form a coalition since the parliamentary election in September.
The Social Democrats decided last month to continue the coalition they have maintained with Merkel's bloc since 2013.
Merkel will be re-appointed as chancellor in mid-March.

China says it is continuing with a plan to upgrade its military, but has declined to reveal by how much.
At a news conference on Sunday, one day before the opening of the National People's Congress, spokesperson Zhang Yesui said China has increased its defense input by modest margins in recent years.
He said a lot of this is to make up for past shortfalls by upgrading equipment, improving the welfare of servicemen and women, and better training at the grassroots level.
Zhang said the increase will be in step with economic growth and will serve national security and development interests. He added that China's defense spending is still lower than other major countries in terms of share of GDP.
China's defense budget for last year was about 150 billion dollars, second only to the United States.
Regional neighbors and other world powers have become increasingly concerned about China's military buildup, citing ongoing disputes in the East and South China Seas.
China has been rapidly upgrading its military equipment with a focus on producing its own cutting-edge technology.
A state-owned defense company is developing the country's first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier.
And last month, China announced its military had deployed a new domestically produced stealth fighter jet.
One of the main topics on the agenda for the National People's Congress is removing presidential term limits.
The move is expected to cement Xi Jinping's grip on power and allow him to serve indefinitely.

The transport ministry says a record number of travelers passed through Tokyo's Haneda Airport last year. This is amid an increase in the number of foreigners visiting the country.
The ministry says 85.3 million people flew to and from the airport in 2017. That's up 6.4 percent from the previous year.
68.4 million travelers used domestic flights, while 16.9 million people took international flights. Both figures were the largest ever.
Ministry officials believe more foreign visitors are taking domestic flights after arriving at Haneda airport. Authorities say that has led to an increase in the facility's use.
The ministry is planning to introduce a new flight route to the airport by 2020. That will enable the airport to accommodate more international flights.

Zoo keepers in Wakayama Prefecture presented female giant panda twins special ice cakes to mark a Doll Festival on Saturday.
The twin sisters, Ouhin and Touhin, were born at Adventure World in Shirahama Town, western Japan, about 3 years ago.
The "Ou" in Ouhin means cherry and "Tou" in Touhin means peach.
The pandas were treated with ice cakes carved into the shapes of cherry and peach blossoms as well as 3-layered ice cakes that were made to resemble Hishimochi rice cakes.
The Hishimochi is one kind of traditional food eaten in Japan on the annual Doll Festival, held on March 3rd.
An inquisitive Ouhin instantly approached the gifts and touched them, while Touhi appeared not to be interested and kept eating bamboo.
Visitors were busy snapping photos when the twins played together on artificial snow.
An elementary school girl from Osaka said that their faces were cute, and that she hopes for good health for both of them.
Keeper Yuka Shinagawa said that the 2 pandas have been growing up healthy.
She said she wants many people to come and see the sisters.
