Authorities in Japan warn that the death toll may rise in floods and landslides caused by record rainfall in the western part of the country.
They say that, as of 8 PM, on Sunday, 75 people are dead and 8 remain in critical condition. At least 61 are missing.
Hiroshima Prefecture was the hardest hit with 32 people reported dead. 20 were killed in Ehime prefecture.
Fatalities were also reported in Okayama, Hyogo, Kyoto, Shiga, Fukuoka, Kochi, Gifu, Yamaguchi and Saga prefectures.
4 people are in critical condition in Hiroshima, 2 in Kagoshima, and 1 each in Kyoto and Hyogo.
The flooding and landslides are hindering rescue operations.
In Hiroshima City, two elderly people remain in critical condition after a landslide hit a public housing complex.
Authorities say the mud inundated about 20 buildings.
Firefighters are checking if any other people were caught in the mudslide.
The roads around the housing complex flooded, isolating about 100 people.
In Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture, firefighters are rescuing more than 100 patients and evacuees left in a hospital.
Local authorities and firefighters are flying helicopters between the hospital and an evacuation center in the city.
Officials say they are giving priority to patients needing uninterrupted care, such as those receiving dialysis.
No one is reported to have suffered major injuries.

The foreign ministers of Japan, the United States and South Korea have met in Tokyo and confirmed they will continue cooperating to get North Korea to completely denuclearize.
Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha sat down for talks for about 45 minutes.
Pompeo arrived in Tokyo on Saturday after two days of talks in North Korea.
He said he briefed Kono and Kang about negotiations he had with Vice Chairman of the ruling Workers' Party, Kim Yong Chol, a close aide to leader Kim Jong Un.
Pompeo said he told them progress was made on issues including how to proceed with denuclearization.
The three ministers confirmed that their countries will continue to work together to get the North to dismantle its nuclear weapons and missiles of all ranges in a complete, verifiable and irreversible manner.
Kono said both he and Kang will support Pompeo until the very end. He said Japan would like to continue to play an important role and will continue to enforce sanctions against the North based on UN Security Council resolutions.
Pompeo also revealed that he discussed the abductions of Japanese nationals with North Korean officials. Kono thanked the US Secretary of State for bringing up the issue.
Before the trilateral meeting, Kono and Pompeo held a bilateral meeting for about an hour at a hotel in Tokyo.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says he made progress in talks with North Korean officials during his recent visit. But he emphasized that UN sanctions will remain in place until the North fulfills its commitment to denuclearization.
Pompeo was speaking to reporters in Tokyo after a trilateral meeting with his Japanese and South Korean counterparts.
The Secretary of State said his talks in Pyongyang on Friday and Saturday with Vice Chairman of the ruling Workers' Party Kim Yong Chol were held in "good faith" and "productive." He also said North Korea reaffirmed its commitment to completely denuclearize.
But he described the road ahead as "challenging" and stressed that sanctions will not be relaxed until Pyongyang fully denuclearizes.
Pompeo also responded to a North Korean Foreign Ministry statement that criticized the recent talks as being "one-sided and gangster-like." He said, "If those requests were gangster-like, then the world is a gangster because there was a unanimous decision at the UN Security Council about what needs to be achieved."
He said the security assurances the North is seeking will not come without denuclearization.

Rescue workers in northern Thailand have begun a mission to extract 12 boys and their soccer coach from a flooded cave system.
The leader of the operation says divers went into the cave in Chiang Rai Province at 10 AM on Sunday, local time, and the earliest the first person could emerge is around 9 PM. But, he says, it will likely take a few days to get all 13 out.
Officials plan to have the extraction done one by one. Each person will be accompanied by 2 divers to swim underwater as some sections are flooded.
The boys and the coach became trapped in the cave by rising waters after they went in on June 23rd.
International teams joined Thai military and police in the rescue operation. They found the team last Monday, more than 5 kilometers from the entrance. Rescuers have been delivering food, as well as providing training in how to use diving equipment.

An attempt to free 12 boys and their soccer coach from a flooded cave system is underway, but experts say it will be a difficult and dangerous operation.
The boys are trapped about 5 kilometers from the entrance of the cave. They will have to scuba dive to navigate parts of the route.
Experts estimate that it would take a trained diver 5 hours to navigate the route. The boys have only been training to dive since Monday.
For the rescue mission, two experienced divers will accompany each boy.
The water is muddy and visibility is very low, so the boys will have to hold a guiding rope that leads to the entrance.
They will need to change air tanks multiple times along the route. Tanks have been placed at 25 meter intervals.
The boys will be navigating difficult passages. Some are so narrow only one person can pass through at a time and the boys will have to go through without damaging their masks, tanks, hoses or other diving equipment.
Rescue workers have been trying to widen the spaces.
In other parts, the boys will have to dive several meters down, stay in the water for a long distance, or bend to go under low ceilings.
There is also a worry the boys could suffer panic attacks, dizziness or nausea while diving in deep water.
If they panic and hold on to the rescue divers, there is a risk that both could drown.
A 38-year-old rescue diver died on Friday while on a mission to deliver air tanks.
