The families of Japanese nationals abducted by North Korea have urged the Japanese government to make the utmost efforts to bring their loved ones home.

A group of the families held a rally in Tokyo on Sunday.

The group's leader, Shigeo Iizuka, gave the opening speech. His sister, Yaeko Taguchi, was abducted in the 1970s.

Iizuka said Japan has been deceived by North Korea many times. He said he wants the Japanese government to focus on bringing the abductees home.

Sakie Yokota's daughter, Megumi, was abducted in the 70s. She said the families have struggled with deep loneliness for 40 years.

She said she hopes that the abduction issue won't be left untouched and that it will be resolved soon.

Hitomi Soga is a former abductee who returned to Japan 16 years ago. Her mother is still unaccounted for.

Soga brought a watch that her mother gave her. She said she hasn't seen her for 40 years and she really misses her.

She said the watch stopped several times while she was in North Korea. She said she often wonders what happened to her mother. She said the watch has been a good timekeeper since she came back to Japan. She said she believes her mother is fine and hanging in there while wishing to return to Japan.

The families adopted a resolution to demand that North Korea accept substantial negotiations to bring the abductees back home.

They also want the Japanese government to maintain its pressure on North Korea and make all-out efforts to achieve the immediate return of all the abductees.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe says he will make a fresh request for help in resolving the abduction issue when he meets US President Donald Trump and South Korean President Moon Jae-in in New York this week.

Abe took part in a rally in Tokyo on Sunday on North Korea's abductions of Japanese nationals before leaving for New York to attend the UN General Assembly.

Abe told the participants he will meet Trump twice in New York, and he wants to agree on a common stance and approach to the abduction issue when they meet privately.

The prime minister also said he wants to hear about the recent inter-Korean summit when he meets Moon, and he will convey Japan's firm stance on the abduction issue.

Prior to the rally, Abe met the abductees' relatives, including Shigeo Iizuka, who heads their group.

Iizuka's sister, Yaeko Taguchi, was abducted by North Korean agents 40 years ago.

Abe said Japan and North Korea need to end their mutual distrust to make progress on resolving the issue.

He told them he will continue to do his best to bring their loved ones back to Japan.

China is preparing to end restrictions on the number of children families can have. This comes amid growing concerns over the falling birthrate and aging population.

The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress by Sunday released a draft of the revised civil code that contains no reference to family planning.

China previously had a strict policy of one child per family. The country's working-age population began to fall in 2012.

The limit was eased in 2015 to allow couples to have a second child. But the birthrate continued to fall due to increasing education costs and people's changing values.

The government is expected to end population-control measures.

But proposals to counter the declining birthrate have caused controversy.

In August, experts proposed setting up a childbirth fund that people would be required to pay into. Their money would be refunded if they had a baby.

The idea came under fire. One critic said on the Internet that the government may be able to force people not to have children, but it cannot force them to do so.

The official campaign has begun in Indonesia's presidential election, set for April 17th next year. Incumbent President Joko Widodo is facing off against former military leader Prabowo Subianto.

A ceremony on Sunday at a square in Jakarta marked the start of the campaign. The candidates pledged to conduct themselves in a fair and just manner.

Key issues are expected to be the economy and addressing the country's high poverty rate.

Indonesia has the world's 4th largest population, with 260 million people. Its economy continues to expand along with its global presence as a G20 member.

Japan is watching the election outcome as ties between the countries are deepening both on the economic front and in the field of security. Nearly 2,000 companies from Japan do business in Indonesia.

In the 5th game of the 1st set on Sunday, Osaka made a series of errors with her backhand, losing the set 4-6.

In the 2nd set, Osaka was unable to return many of Pliskova's serves. Her first services had a success rate of over 80 percent.

She allowed her opponent to break her service in the 9th game, and lost the set, 4-6.

A Japanese cargo spacecraft, the Kounotori 7, is on its way to deliver supplies to the International Space Station.

The H2B rocket which carried the Kounotori 7 was launched shortly after 2:52 AM Sunday local time in southern Japan.

The Kounotori 7 separated about 15 minutes later as planned.

It is loaded with about 6.2 tons of cargo including a Japanese-made lithium-ion battery, experimental equipment, and daily supplies for the astronauts. The battery is the main power source of the space station.

The spacecraft is also carrying an 80-centimeter-wide capsule.
Scientists will use the capsule to bring back samples from experiments.

The rocket launch had been originally scheduled to take place on September 11th but it was delayed 4 times due to bad weather and a problem with a safety valve.

The Kounotori 7 is scheduled to dock with the International Space Station Thursday night.
