Palestinians demonstrating against US President Donald Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the Israeli capital continued to clash with Israeli forces on Monday.
Protesters fought with Israeli soldiers in the Gaza Strip and elsewhere.
In the West Bank city of Ramallah, demonstrators gathered outside a US facility. Some 500 of them headed to an Israeli military checkpoint, burning tires and throwing stones.
Israeli forces responded with tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse the crowd.
The Palestinian Red Crescent said Monday's violence left 73 people injured.
Israeli media reported that US Vice President Mike Pence will visit Jerusalem next week as part of his Middle East tour.
He is reportedly scheduled to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and visit a site sacred to Jewish people.
The news raised concerns that protests could turn more violent.

The Israeli prime minister has called on Europe to follow the US in recognizing Jerusalem as his country's capital. But the EU's foreign policy chief has rejected the idea.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke to reporters ahead of a meeting with EU foreign ministers in Brussels on Monday.
He said US President Donald Trump's decision does not obviate peace but makes it possible.
He noted that recognizing reality is the substance of peace, as well as the foundation of peace.
At a post-meeting news conference, the EU's foreign policy head Federica Mogherini said she told Netanyahu that the bloc supports a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
She said the EU will continue to respect the international consensus on Jerusalem until the city's final status is determined through direct negotiations between the parties concerned.
The EU plans to invite Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to Brussels in January to convey its stance on the issue.

Foreign Minister Taro Kono has offered Japan's support to rebuild Iraq, where the war against the Islamic State group was declared over last week.
Kono congratulated Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi when they met in Paris on Monday. Abadi said last Saturday that Iraqi forces have fully liberated the country.
Kono said he hopes all Iraqis will now focus on reconstruction under their Constitution. He said unity is essential for the task, which he said Japan hopes to support as much as possible.
Abadi expressed hope for Japan's contribution. He said Iraqis will unite in their continued fight against terrorism and in efforts to rebuild their nation.
Kono earlier spoke on the phone with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman al-Safadi to discuss the US decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
Kono told Safadi Japan remains unchanged in its support for a two-state solution of peaceful coexistence by Israel and a future Palestinian state.

A man arrested for exploding a pipe bomb in New York has reportedly told police it was revenge for US military operations on the Islamic State militant group.
The blast on Monday morning in an underground path connecting the Port Authority bus terminal and the Times Square subway station wounded 3 people.
Police detained 27-year-old Akayed Ullah from Bangladesh at the site on suspicion of setting off a pipe bomb strapped to his body. He injured his abdomen and hands.
The police have since raided his home in New York.
The New York Times and other media outlets have quoted investigative sources as saying that the suspect told police he carried out the attack in retaliation against US military operations on the Islamic State militant group in Syria and elsewhere.
The US Department of Homeland Security says he came to the United States in 2011 on a visa issued to him through a family connection to an American citizen, and that he has since become a lawful permanent resident.
Surveillance camera footage shows the moment of the explosion on Monday.
The video shows the suspect walking along a crowded underground path and detonating the explosive, covering the site in white smoke. People fled the scene, and the suspect collapsed face-up on the ground.

A Japan-led consortium has begun operating a train network in Britain. The services connect London with cities in the Midlands.
A launch ceremony was held in Birmingham on Monday. East Japan Railway, or JR East, and trading house Mitsui are involved, along with a Dutch rail firm.
In Britain, the government holds a bidding process at regular intervals to select operators of each railway franchise.
JR East and others won a contract to run the network through 2026. They plan to spend about 1.3 billion dollars to introduce new train cars and improve facilities.
The project is JR East's first overseas railway operation.
JR East Vice Chairman Masaki Ogata says the firm hopes to build high-quality, reliable transportation services with a priority on safety.
Noting that Japan's rail network began with British support 145 years ago, Ogata says it is now Japan's turn to contribute.
JR East and Mitsui & Company are hoping to win more contracts in Britain.

North Korea's ambassador to the UN has indicated that his country will talk with the United States if conditions are met, in an apparent demand to be recognized as a nuclear power.
Ja Song Nam was speaking to reporters on Tuesday at an airport in Beijing upon arrival from Pyongyang.
Ja's remark is thought to reflect a commentary last month in the North Korean ruling party newspaper Rodong Sinmun. The article urged the administration of US President Donald Trump to reverse its policy and recognize the North as a nuclear power.
Pyongyang blames what it sees as the United States' hostile policy and nuclear threat toward the North for the current situation on the Korean Peninsula.
The country's Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho reiterated this claim when he met UN Under-Secretary-General Jeffrey Feltman in Pyongyang this month.

Japan is stepping up its crackdown on illegal fishing by foreign vessels in the country's exclusive economic zone.
Rampant illegal fishing by North Korean and other foreign ships in the Yamatotai fishing ground off the Noto Peninsula has hurt the local fishing business.
The fisheries ministry has decided to build 2 new ships to monitor the area.
It also plans to introduce a new system to alert Japanese fishing ships of incoming missiles, amid North Korea's repeated tests.
The ministry is eyeing a total of 12 billion yen, or over 100 million dollars, in a supplementary budget for the current fiscal year to pay for the measures.

The leader of a group of families of Japanese nationals abducted by North Korea has urged the government to work intensively to solve the abductions issue.
Shigeo Iizuka made the comment on Tuesday following the deaths of an abductee's aged parent and a former abductee's husband.
Iizuka said it is natural for people to die of old age, and anyone in the group could die at any time, since the group has been fighting for 20 years.
Iizuka said the government has achieved no results so far, and that the families just want the abductees to come home. He urged the government to think about its next step as soon as possible.
Nobuko Masumoto died of heart failure on Tuesday at the age of 90. She was the mother of Rumiko Masumoto, who was abducted by North Korea in 1978.
Charles Robert Jenkins died on Monday at the age of 77. He was the American husband of a former abductee, Hitomi Soga.
Iizuka's sister Yaeko Taguchi was abducted by North Korea in 1978.

Senior police officials from across Asia are meeting in Tokyo to discuss cross-border cooperation against increasingly sophisticated organized crime groups.
Representatives from 14 countries and territories, including Japan, China, Vietnam and Macau, are attending the 2-day conference that opened on Tuesday.
Japan's National Police Agency chief Masayoshi Sakaguchi told the opening that highly organized crime networks are making huge profits from drug smuggling and other crimes supported by trans-national laundering activities.
He also pointed out the growth in organized cybercrime.
He said close cooperation among countries is necessary to combat cross-border criminal networks.
An official from the agency reported on the smuggling of stimulant drugs from Taiwan and elsewhere by Japanese criminal syndicates. The official said Japanese fraud groups have established bases overseas.
Participants at the conference will also share information on the use of Bitcoin and other virtual currencies for money laundering.

Japan's Environment Ministry says the country's greenhouse gas emissions fell for a 3rd straight year in fiscal 2016.
The ministry's preliminary figures show Japan emitted 1.32 billion tons of carbon dioxide in the year through March 2017. That's a decrease of 3 million tons, or 0.2 percent from the previous year.
The decline is attributed mainly to more electricity generated by renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar power. The resumption of operations at some nuclear power plants is another factor.
However, the rate of decline is slowing. Ministry officials say hydro-fluorocarbons used as coolants in refrigerators and air conditioners are not being collected so much.
They also say emissions from coal-fired power plants remain high.
Environment Minister Masaharu Nakagawa told reporters that more efforts are needed to achieve the goal of reducing emissions from their 2013 level by 26 percent by fiscal 2030.
He indicated that the ministry plans to further promote renewable energy sources.

Japan's government has revised its basic space policy so the country can take part in an international manned exploratory mission to the Moon.
The government held a meeting of its Strategic Headquarters for Space Development on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe chaired the meeting, and Science and Technology Policy Minister Masaji Matsuyama also attended.
The panel decided to start discussions next year on how Japan can contribute its technological expertise to the lunar probe.
It also hopes to join the US in construction of an international space station orbiting the Moon. The United States plans to complete the space station by the late 2020s.
The revised space policy includes a plan for Japan's space agency, JAXA, and other institutions to start studying next April ways of launching an observation system for space debris.
They will also set up a new system for disclosing satellite-obtained images and data to private firms, with the hope of spurring new business ventures.
