Foreign ministers from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations held talks in Cambodia on Thursday.
But the delegate from Myanmar was not at the table.

Speaking at a news conference after the meeting, the Cambodian foreign minister said he plans to visit Myanmar next month as ASEAN's special envoy.

The meeting was held in the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh with the absence of a representative from Myanmar. The country's military did not send a delegate as ASEAN had requested the attendance of a non-political representative.

The ministers confirmed they will call on Myanmar's military to implement the Five-Point Consensus agreed to last year with the junta's leaders.

That includes an immediate halt to the violence and the acceptance of an envoy to mediate between all parties.

Cambodia is the current ASEAN chair. The country's Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn, spoke to reporters after the meeting.
He stressed he is looking for ways to meet with representatives of Myanmar's pro-democracy National Unity Government.

Cambodia hopes to resolve the impasse between ASEAN and the Myanmar military.

Asia's largest air show is underway in Singapore amid the region's continuing coronavirus pandemic.

The Singapore Airshow, which is held every two years, kicked off on Tuesday to a limited crowd of trade visitors.
About 600 exhibitors from 39 countries are attending, which is down from the 900 that participated in the last show in 2020.

The pandemic has hit aviation hard but observers say the industry is expected to recover.

Boeing unveiled the all-new 777X jumbo jet. Airbus is showcasing a model of a hydrogen-powered aircraft that is under development. Japanese automaker Honda is displaying a seven-seat private jet, which is drawing attention amid the pandemic.

About 13,000 people are expected to attend the three-day event, less than half of the 30,000 who attended in 2020.
