132 athletes and officials flew into Yangyang International Airport in the country's northeast on Sunday.
Team captain and speed skater Nao Kodaira told reporters that she wants to get on the ice at the Olympic venue as soon as possible. Kodaira also said she will fully prepare for the Games to give her best performances for many people.
The national team is made up of 269 athletes and officials. It's the largest Japanese delegation for a Winter Olympics held outside the country.
Japanese athletes won 8 medals at the 2014 Sochi Games in Russia. Japan is hoping to exceed this figure in PyeongChang.

Chinese defense ministry spokesperson Ren Guoqiang criticized the US Nuclear Posture Review in a statement released on Sunday.
The US government issued the medium to long-term nuclear strategy on Friday. The document says enhancing deterrence capabilities with low-yield nuclear arsenals is necessary. It says Russia and China are rapidly modernizing their nuclear capabilities.
The document also says China continues to increase the number, capabilities and protection of its nuclear forces.
But in Sunday's statement, Ren accused the United States of "presumptuous speculation" about China's intentions. He said the US is playing up the threat of its nuclear strength.
Ren said China has always adopted a restrained attitude toward the development of nuclear weapons and has kept its nuclear forces to the minimum level required for national security.
He noted that the US owns the world's largest nuclear arsenal. He said China hopes that the US will discard its "cold-war mentality" and shoulder its own special and primary responsibility for nuclear disarmament.
The spokesman added that his country also wants the US to take a fair view of China's national defense and military development.

The Russian operator of the Mangyongbong says it arrived on Wednesday in Vladivostok. But the ferry has been waiting offshore for 3 days.
Sources at Vladivostok port told NHK that the ship's cargo includes feed for livestock. They said it may be classified as an agricultural product whose import is prohibited by UN Security Council sanctions against North Korea.
Russia is said to have close ties with North Korea. But some Western media say Russian authorities may be using the entry denial to show they are observing the UN resolutions.
The Mangyongbong went into service in 1971 and was used in a program for Koreans who had lived in Japan to move to North Korea.
