Japan's Foreign Minister Taro Kono says North Korea intends to continue its nuclear and missile development, and people should not be blinded by its charm offensive.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has proposed holding an inter-Korean summit. His sister, Kim Yo Jong, conveyed the proposal to South Korean President Moon Jae-in on Saturday.
Kono told reporters in Brunei on Sunday that North Korea displayed its missiles in a military parade the day before the Olympic Games opened. He said the cooperation among Japan, the United States and South Korea remains intact, and the 3 countries will continue to work closely to apply the maximum pressure on the North to achieve the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

North Korea's state media has given extensive coverage to the meeting between the South Korean president and Kim Yo Jong, the younger sister of the North's leader Kim Jong Un.
The Sunday edition of Rodong Sinmun, the newspaper of North Korea's ruling party, ran a front-page story on the high-level delegation from the North meeting with Moon Jae-in at the presidential palace in Seoul on Saturday.
The paper says Kim Yo Jong handed Moon a letter from the North's leader.
It features several photos, including one showing Kim Yo Jong smiling and shaking hands with Moon. It also says the delegation held candid talks with the South about improving inter-Korean relations.
The paper also says members of the delegation and Moon sat together to watch the unified women's ice hockey team from North and South Korea play its first game at the PyeongChang Olympics.

The PyeongChang Winter Olympics have already produced a number of memorable moments, the most symbolic so far being the moment a unified Korean women's hockey team took to the ice.
South Korea's president was joined by a group of high-ranking North Koreans to watch the game against Switzerland. The unified Korean team had 3 North Korean players in the starting lineup, and North Korean cheerleaders off the ice.
Despite enthusiastic cheering, the Koreans had few chances, as the Swiss players scored 3 goals in the first period, followed by another 5, bringing the final score to 8-zero. Fans were still happy with the team's performance.
Japan's Olympic hockey debut ended with a 2-1 loss to Sweden. There are 4 teams competing in Group B, with the top 2 qualifying for the quarterfinals. Team Korea will play against Sweden on Monday, while Japan will face Switzerland.
In the men's normal hill ski jumping, veteran Japanese jumper 45-year-old Noriaki Kasai had to deal with strong winds and icy temperatures. The competition was held up several times to allow the athletes waiting at the starting line to warm up.
Kasai's best jump was104.5 meters, but was only enough to rank him in 21st place. He's now looking forward to his strongest event, the large hill, on Friday.
Andreas Wellinger from Germany took the gold.
Johann Andre Forfang from Norway won silver.
Robert Johansson, also from Norway, picked up the bronze.
South Korea's first gold was won by Lim Hyo-jun in the men's 1,500 meters short track speed skating event. Lim surged past Sjinkie Knegt of the Netherlands and finished in a new Olympic-record time.
The bronze went to Semen Elistratov, one of the Olympic Athletes from Russia, who became the first Russian medalist at PyongChang.

Search and rescue workers in Taiwan have found another victim in a building damaged by the strong earthquake this week.
A magnitude-6.4 quake struck the eastern region of the island on Tuesday. Many buildings collapsed or were damaged, in and around the city of Hualien near the epicenter.
Rescue workers in Taiwan have been searching for Chinese tourists who were staying at the hotel in the 12-story building that partially collapsed on its lower floors. One person was found on Saturday and later confirmed dead, bringing the death toll to 15. More than 280 others were injured in the quake.
The search continues for 2 other Chinese citizens in the building, but rescuers are facing difficulties.
A team of Japanese experts assisting with the rescue operations left the disaster-hit site on Saturday. Team leader Masaru Harada said it was regrettable that no survivors were found. He added that he could feel the solidarity between those involved in rescue work.

Japan's Defense Minister Itsunori Onodera says the ministry will compensate the owner of the house that was destroyed in the fatal crash of a Ground Self-Defense Force helicopter on Monday.
The AH-64 attack helicopter carrying 2 crewmembers crashed into the house in the city of Kanzaki, Saga Prefecture, killing both officers.
An elementary school girl in the house at the time suffered a minor injury.
Onodera met Saga Governor Yoshinori Yamaguchi at the prefectural office on Sunday and apologized for the accident.
He promised to fully investigate the cause of the accident, hearing from experts and third parties, and to take measures to prevent a recurrence.
Onodera also said the ministry will compensate residents who were affected by the accident.
Yamaguchi said he is deeply concerned because the accident occurred in a residential area with an elementary school and a kindergarten, and that residents should not be involved.
Neither Onodera nor Yamaguchi mentioned the planned deployment of Osprey transport aircraft at Saga Airport during the meeting.
Onodera told reporters that the ministry will do its best with the investigation and efforts to prevent a recurrence, and that he is not ready to talk about its impact on the deployment of Osprey.

Labor shortages are prompting Japanese moving companies to raise prices ahead of the peak house-moving season in spring.
The companies cite the need to increase wages for part-time workers.
Nippon Express has customarily added to the cost of its moving service for a person living alone a fee of 2,000 yen, or about 18 dollars, during the period from mid-March to early April. The firm says it will now raise that seasonal fee to 45 dollars.
The firm says it will increase wages for part-time workers by 10 to 20 percent from previous years, as it is facing difficulty in securing such workers.
The manager of the moving business department of the firm said the price hike is in response to increased costs in securing workers and trucks. He called on potential customers to refrain from moving during the peak weeks if at all possible.
Yamato Transport has also decided to raise the additional charge for moving in spring. Art Corporation has halted a discount service that corporations can use when transferring employees to new locations or other cases.
A serious shortage of drivers has also led Japanese parcel delivery firms to raise prices.
