Missiles struck the Kharkiv region of northeastern Ukraine on Friday morning, for a second day in a row. The United Nations has sent a human rights team to investigate Thursday's attack that killed at least 50 people.
The new airstrike on Friday damaged residential structures. The regional governor said a 68-year-old woman and her 10-year-old grandson died in the attack. He also said 28 others were wounded, including an 11-month-old baby.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned Russia on social media, referring to the attacks as "Russian terror."
On Thursday, missiles struck a cafe in a village near the city of Kupiansk, killing at least 52 people. The regional governor said many of the victims had gathered to mourn a fallen soldier.
Ukraine criticized Russia for intentionally targeting civilians while Moscow claimed it does not strike civilian targets.
The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights said in a news conference on Friday that the previous day's attack was one of the deadliest on civilians since Russia started the invasion in February 2022.
The OHCHR said it deployed a team to speak to survivors and gather information.

Russian President Vladimir Putin turns 71 years old on Saturday. Attention is focused on whether he will announce that he is seeking another term in the presidential election scheduled for March next year.
Major Russian newspaper Kommersant on Tuesday quoted a source close to the Kremlin as saying that Putin may announce his bid for the 2024 presidential election at an event in Moscow that starts in early November.
Independent Russian media outlet Meduza has reported that the Putin administration has set a target for the incumbent to win more than 80 percent of the vote.
Last month, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that if Putin stands as a candidate, it is obvious that at this stage the president will face "no real competition."
Putin assumed the presidency at age of 47. In 2020, he led constitutional reforms that could allow him to potentially remain in power until age 83.
As Russia's invasion of Ukraine drags on, the Putin administration appears to be aiming to have the election demonstrate the Russian public's support for the president.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has highlighted Russia's strong relations with the Central Asian nation of Uzbekistan, in an apparent bid to underscore unity with former Soviet nations.
Putin met with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan in Moscow on Friday. The two countries agreed to boost cooperation in political and economic activities, security and other fields.
Putin said at the beginning of the talks, "Our relations are developing quite successfully."
After their meeting, the two leaders signed a joint statement on deepening their strategic partnership to boost joint political, trade, cultural and humanitarian activities, as well as security cooperation.
Putin also referred to Russia's natural gas exports to Uzbekistan through a pipeline that opens on Saturday. He said this was designed to ensure energy security for Uzbekistan and the broader Central Asian region.
The decline of Russian influence is becoming more evident among some members of the former Soviet Union, which Putin views as being under Russia's sphere of influence.
Armenia has been moving away from Russia as dissatisfaction has grown over Moscow's handling of a military conflict in September in the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh, where residents are ethnic Armenians.
Next week in Kyrgyzstan, Putin is scheduled to attend a summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States, or CIS. The CIS is made up of some former Soviet republics, including Central Asian nations.
Putin apparently wants to underscore the unity of former Soviet countries through meetings with CIS leaders.

Police have recovered the bodies of four climbers on Mount Asahi in Tochigi Prefecture, north of Tokyo. They suspect the two men and two women ran into trouble after getting lost.
Police say all four were deceased when they found them lying near a trail on Saturday morning.
They say one of the men had made an emergency call on Friday afternoon. The man told them people in the group were suffering from hypothermia and couldn't move.
Another climber later reported finding someone lying on the ground.
Mount Asahi rises to 1,896 meters above sea level. It's so difficult to climb in some places that authorities have installed chains to assist people.
The police and fire department say they were unable to send out a search team on Friday due to heavy winds.
All four of the deceased are believed to be adults. It's unknown if they were climbing together.

A group of Japanese and Thai researchers have discovered five species of luminous land snails -- the first such find in 80 years.
Professor Oba Yuichi of the Department of Environmental Biology of Chubu University in Aichi Prefecture and researchers at a university in Thailand have published findings from their joint study.
The group says that there are about 30,000 known species of terrestrial snails around the world, but only one species which was discovered in Singapore in 1943 was previously known to be luminescent.
The researchers have studied land snails collected in Thailand and found the five species to be luminescent.
They say that the four of them belonging to the genus Phuphania produce a continuous greenish light, while one species of Quantula striata emits a blinking greenish luminescence from around its mouth while moving.
Professor Oba says that those snails may be mimicking other luminescent creatures that are venomous, such as fireflies, to protect themselves against their predators.
Oba says he wants to learn more about how and why they emit light.
He says analyses of genes of luminous creatures could be used to make cancer cells emit luminescence and monitor their metastasis.
