Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Israel will maintain control of the Gaza Strip after its conflict with Hamas ends.
Netanyahu told reporters on Saturday that the Palestinian Islamic group has lost control of northern Gaza.
He said the Israeli military will keep control over the enclave from a security standpoint to prevent terror attacks from happening again.
The prime minister warned the Lebanon-based Shia militant group Hezbollah, which is carrying out attacks on Israel from southern Lebanon.
He said the group should not make the wrong decision to enter the conflict, which would be a "fatal" mistake and determine the "fate" of Lebanon.
Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah said in a televised address on Saturday that the only way to stop resistance movements in Iraq, Lebanon and Yemen is to stop the fighting in Gaza.
Israeli forces are closing in on al-Shifa Hospital, the region's largest, in Gaza City. They say a key Hamas stronghold is located under the facility.
The Israeli military has issued evacuation warnings to medical staff, patients and others at al-Shifa and two other hospitals in the central city. A large number of residents are said to be taking shelter in those facilities.
A doctor from the international NGO, Doctors Without Borders, who remains at al-Shifa Hospital, made a plea for the safe evacuation of patients on social media.
In an audio message posted on Saturday, the doctor said the hospital has premature babies, patients in the intensive care unit and inpatients who have undergone surgery.

The leaders of member nations of the Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation held a joint emergency meeting in the Saudi Arabian capital of Riyadh on Saturday. Their aim was to discuss the situation in Gaza and how to show their solidarity with the Palestinian people.
Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman delivered the opening speech. He stated that his country condemns and categorically rejects what he described as the "barbaric war" against the Palestinian people.
He urged all the participants at the summit to take action to help change the catastrophic situation in Gaza.
Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani implored Israel to immediately stop attacking civilians. He added that his country will continue to try to secure the immediate release of the hostages, who are being held by Hamas.
President Ebrahim Raisi of Iran, which is at odds with Israel and the US, insisted that the United States will be held responsible for what is going on in Gaza. He noted that the US has provided many of the weapons that Israel is using.
He went on to say that Islamic countries should provide the Palestinian people with weapons, so that they can fight against Israel. The president suggested that Iran will extend military assistance to Hamas, the Lebanon-based Shia militant group Hezbollah and others.

Japan's Defense Ministry has decided to fast-track the deployment of an upgraded version of the Ground Self-Defense Force's anti-ship missile, due to increasingly serious security environment surrounding the country.
The Type-12 surface-to-ship missile is a domestically-produced guided missile.
The defense ministry has been upgrading the Japanese-made missile to give it a longer range. It hopes the missile will enhance the country's counterstrike capabilities in operations, such as attacks against an enemy's missile launch sites.
The ministry originally planned to deploy upgraded Type-12 missiles in fiscal 2026.
The ministry has yet to decide how much sooner it will deploy them. But in the draft supplementary budget for the current fiscal year, it earmarked 152.3 billion yen, or about 1 billion dollars, for the procurement of upgraded Type-12 missiles and high-speed glide bombs that can be used to defend the country's remote islands.
Japan plans to purchase 400 Tomahawk cruise missiles from the United States for counterstrike capabilities. It plans to deploy 200 of them starting in fiscal 2025. That is one year earlier than originally planned.

Japan's government has decided to set up a fund of 1 trillion yen, or about 6.6 billion dollars, over 10 years for the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, JAXA, to boost space-related businesses in the country.
Global competition in space exploration is intensifying, with the private sector, including Elon Musk's spaceX, participating in the field.
The space strategy fund is aimed at achieving the government's goal of doubling the domestic space-related market from about 26 billion to 52 billion dollars in the early 2030s.
The government plans to allocate the funding to companies, universities and other entities to support development of space technology.
With a 10-year window for funding spreading the spending over several fiscal years, the government is trying to encourage the participation of businesses or other sectors through large-scale, long-term aid.
The government is expected to decide on project themes under a space technology strategy that it aims to draw up by the end of the current fiscal year. Based on the themes, JAXA will select suitable applicants for subsidies and other assistance.
The science, economy and related ministries have earmarked a total of nearly 2 billion dollars in the draft supplementary budget for the current fiscal year.

A Chinese high court has finalized a 12-year prison sentence for a Japanese man charged with espionage under China's two-tier judicial system.
Japanese government sources say the high court in Hunan Province dismissed the man's appeal, upholding a lower court's decision.
The man in his 50s was detained in 2019 in Changsha in the province. The lower court found him guilty and sentenced him in February this year.
Chinese authorities have detained at least 17 Japanese nationals on suspicion of involvement in spying and other activities since 2015, a year after Beijing put an anti-espionage law into effect.
Among those charged is an employee of a major Japanese drug manufacturer living in China. He was arrested in October after being detained for more than six months without any detailed explanation.
The sentences for ten of them have been finalized. However, after their court proceedings, it remains unclear why they were detained, or what actions they had taken were considered criminal.
Plans are being adjusted in Tokyo and Beijing to set up a meeting between Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio and Chinese President Xi Jinping during the APEC summit scheduled to begin on Wednesday in San Francisco.
If the meeting is held, one of the key issues the two leaders are expected to focus on is China's recent detentions of Japanese nationals.

Japan's Agency for Cultural Affairs is setting up a new fund to support young artists and creators from the planning of their projects to their introduction abroad.
The agency has included about 40 million dollars for the project in the supplementary budget for this fiscal year.
It has been pointed out that comics, animation, music and traditional performing arts need to go beyond their boundaries to appeal to an international audience.
But it is a time consuming endeavor that calls for sustained assistance, especially for young artists.
The cultural agency has decided to establish a new fund to support young artists and creators for a span of around 3 years so that they can show their works or perform overseas. It is the first time that the agency has set up such a fund.
One aim of the plan is to give opportunities to perform overseas to musicians and composers who have won international contests.
Officials say that young artists who create comics and animation can get advice from experts so that they can showcase their works overseas.
The agency added various types of museums that can be used as a base for nurturing new artists.
They also say the fund can digitalize young artists' works and distribute them abroad.
