US President Donald Trump has stressed that he will soon return to campaigning for the November presidential election.

Trump returned to the White House on Monday, after receiving COVID-19 treatment at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, where he was admitted on Friday.

He will likely continue to receive treatment at the White House, while working from a room under quarantine in a building separate from the Oval Office.

Before leaving the hospital, Trump tweeted that he "will be back on the Campaign Trail soon."

Upon arrival at the White House, he posed for pictures on a balcony and took off his mask.

Later in a video message, Trump said "We're going to be out front," and "I knew there's danger to it."

Some US media say Trump plans to take part in the second presidential debate scheduled for next week.

Trump's doctors said he "may not entirely be out of the woods yet."

At the White House, more than 10 people, including Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany, have tested positive for the coronavirus since last week.

Trump is facing criticism that he's taking anti-infection measures lightly.

US President Donald Trump has returned to the White House where he posted a video telling Americans "not to be dominated" by the coronavirus.

Trump left Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Monday after undergoing treatment for COVID-19 with an antiviral drug and other therapies.

At the White House, Trump released a video on Twitter, saying, "I learned so much about coronavirus. And one thing that's for certain. Don't let it dominate you. Don't be afraid of it. We're going to beat it. We have the best medical equipment. We have the best medicines, all developed recently."

Trump also said, "We're going back to work. We're gonna be out front." He added, "The vaccines are coming momentarily."

US media say his staff have made preparations so that the president can work while in quarantine in the White House.

Trump's doctors say he will be given an antiviral drug on Tuesday and will remain under close observation around the clock.

Critics are voicing concerns over Trump's release from the hospital before he has made a full recovery.

The president is also facing criticism for taking off his mask after he returned to the White House where he posed for cameras.

CNN called the move "reckless" and that Trump could potentially infect people nearby.

A string of infections has been confirmed at the White House. Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany tested positive on Monday.

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany says she has tested positive for the coronavirus, becoming the latest case in the inner circle of President Donald Trump.

At least 12 people, including the president and First Lady Melania Trump, have tested positive so far.

They include Trump's close aide Hope Hicks, former senior advisor to the president Kellyanne Conway, Trump campaign manager Bill Stepien, Republican National Committee chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, former New Jersey governor Chris Christie, Presidential assistant Nicholas Luna, Republican senators Mike Lee and Thom Tillis, and the University of Notre Dame president John Jenkins.

Seven of them, including the president, attended an event held at the White House on September 26 to introduce Trump's Supreme Court nominee.

US media speculate that the virus may have spread among attendees at the ceremony. They also say that many White House staffers have been confirmed infected with the virus.

The Wall Street Journal has reported that Trump instructed one of his advisers who tested positive not to disclose the test results.

More than one media outlet in the US has suggested that the Trump administration has failed to carry out sufficient "contact tracing." It is designed to find people who have had close contacts with those known to be infected.

Vice President Mike Pence, who also attended the White House event on September 26, says he tested negative for the virus on Saturday.

Former Vice President Joe Biden, who faced off against Trump in a televised debate on Tuesday last week, has also tested negative.

Japan's Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu will meet his counterparts from the United States, Australia and India in Tokyo on Tuesday.

Motegi will chair the 4-party foreign ministerial talks attended by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Australian Foreign Minister Marise Payne and India's Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

It will be the first ministerial-level gathering in Japan since the coronavirus pandemic took hold. Preventive measures against the virus will be in place. These include ensuring that the attendees go through testing and avoid unnecessary outings.

Motegi hopes that the four countries will agree to work together on responses to the pandemic.

Motegi also wants to reaffirm with his counterparts that their nations are committed to realizing a free and open Indo-Pacific region. China has been stepping up its maritime activities in the East and South China seas.

Motegi hopes that the four countries will agree to hold foreign ministerial meetings on a regular basis.

Japan's Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide is scheduled to meet with Pompeo in what will be his first face-to-face diplomatic meeting since he took office.

Suga and Pompeo will likely reaffirm that their countries will further strengthen their alliance. The two are also expected to discuss the post-pandemic global economy and the rule-based international order.

Sources tell NHK that the Japanese companies Sony and Kioxia Holdings have applied for US approval to restart exports of components to Huawei Technologies.

The two firms suspended shipments to Huawei after the US government tightened regulations on semiconductor sales to the Chinese tech giant in mid-September.

Sony supplied Huawei with image sensors for smartphones and other devices. Kioxia, a spinoff of Toshiba, was shipping flash memory chips.

Kioxia decided last month to shelve plans for a listing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange valued at over 14-billion dollars.
