North Korea says it conducted two missile tests on Friday, marking the fourth day of missile launches by Pyongyang in just over a week.
The state-run Korean Central News Agency on Saturday reported the country's Missile Administration had carried out what it called a "cruise missile super-large warhead power test" and a "new-type anti-aircraft missile test-fire." The test launches took place into the Yellow Sea, which is on the west side of the Korean Peninsula.
These tests were North Korea's fourth missile launch since January 24. The tests have focused on tactical nuclear warhead capable missiles that can fly a long distance at low altitude.
Photos released by the agency show a white-painted round-head missile ascending and then striking a structure on the coast.
The missile appears different from North Korea's conventional cruise missiles, possibly related to development of a new or modified model.
The news agency said the tests are part of the Missile Administration's activities for the rapid development of technologies for new-type weapon systems.
Experts say the weapons are designed to attack the South Korean military, US forces in South Korea and US military bases in Japan. They say the North is likely to continue to test-fire missiles to further develop technologies.

US Central Command has announced that its forces conducted airstrikes in Iraq and Syria. The attacks targeted Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Quds Force and affiliated militia groups.
The Central Command said the strikes took place at 4:00 p.m. US Eastern Time on Friday against more than 85 targets.
These targets included command and control operations centers for militia groups as well as missile and unmanned aerial vehicle storage.
It said the strikes involved long-range bombers flown from the United States and employed more than 125 precision munitions.
A US government official told NHK the attack was in response to the death of three US soldiers in a drone strike at a US outpost in Jordan on Sunday.
Following this, White House National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby said that the response would be a "tiered approach" over a period of time.
On Friday US President Joe Biden said in a statement that at his direction, the US military forces struck targets at facilities in Iraq and Syria used by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and affiliated militia to attack US forces.
He went on to say that the US response will continue at times and places of its choosing. He added that his country does not seek conflict in the Middle East or anywhere else in the world but "If you harm an American, we will respond."
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that air strikes took place on 17 sites on an eastern province of Deir Ezzor in Syria where Iran-backed groups are located, and 13 militia fighters were killed.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will visit the Middle East from Sunday through Thursday.
A press statement on Friday says he will travel to Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar, Israel and the West Bank.
Qatar and Egypt are mediating talks for the release of hostages and a pause of the fighting in the Gaza Strip.
US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said in the statement that Blinken will continue diplomatic efforts to reach an agreement that secures the release of all remaining hostages and includes a humanitarian pause to deliver assistance to civilians in Gaza.

Japan's Ground Self-Defense Force has announced that it will hold joint drills with the US Marine Corps from later this month in southwestern Japan's Kyushu and Okinawa regions.
The GSDF and the US Marines have conducted the drills, named "Iron Fist," since 2006, focused on practicing the defense of remote islands. The exercises were held in Japan for the first time last year.
The GSDF announced on Friday that the drill will be held from February 25 through March 17.
It said about 2,100 personnel from the GSDF Amphibious Rapid Deployment Brigade and the US 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit will take part in the exercises.
The drills will be held on Okinoerabujima Island in Kagoshima Prefecture, the US Marine Corps' Camp Hansen in Okinawa Prefecture and elsewhere. The drills will include landing exercises and live firing activities.
It will be the first time for the GSDF to hold a drill on Okinoerabujima Island. The GSDF says the location was decided based on factors such as the island's topography and climate, as the force aims to improve response capabilities in the southwestern remote islands.
The GSDF says Osprey tilt-rotor transport aircraft will not be used in this year's drills. In November, a US Air Force Osprey crashed in waters off southwestern Japan.

Japan has sent members of its coast guard to participate in rescue drills in Micronesia and the Marshall Islands as part of an effort to enhance relations with Pacific island countries.
The Japan Coast Guard says four personnel took part in the exercises with local authorities from January 13 to 28. The drills focused on helping people in water climb onto a boat using a net.
The coast guard has been helping foreign countries, mainly in Southeast Asia, expand their operational capacity for decades. It launched the Mobile Cooperation Team in 2017 to expand these efforts. Since 2018, it has covered Pacific island nations, such as Palau and Kiribati.
The coast guard says one of the goals of the recent drills was to be ready to save fishing boats during emergencies. Japanese tuna fishing vessels operate in the South Pacific.
The four personnel are also believed to have given a lecture to local authorities about the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, including on how to implement the law within territorial waters.
Sources say the coast guard hopes to strengthen ties with Pacific island nations in the face of China's increasing maritime activities.

Space experts in Japan say the country's SLIM lunar probe has defied expectations by providing data for as many as ten rocks. They now hope to shed light on the origins of the moon.
Smart Lander for Investigating Moon touched down on January 20.
But a solar panel was facing the wrong way, and the vehicle was unable to generate power. SLIM started exploring several days later after catching some sunlight.
Saiki Kazuto of Ritsumeikan University's Earth & Space Exploration Center leads a team tasked with using SLIM to observe lunar rocks.
A special onboard camera has provided the team with data for as many as 10 rocks. Saiki told NHK that one would have been considered a success.
Dog-lover Saiki proposed naming the rocks after canine breeds, such as toy poodle and Shiba.
The team is now working to determine whether they are olivine.
Finding the mineral could reinforce the theory that the moon was formed by debris from a collision between Earth and another small planet.
Saiki hopes to announce the results of the study within six months to a year.
