Cambodia's new prime minister says he will visit China later this week. Hun Manet will meet his Chinese counterpart for the first time.
Cambodia and China are marking the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties this year.
Hun Manet's visit is likely to show he intends to place importance on strengthening relations with Beijing.
China is Cambodia's largest investor.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry held a regular press conference on Monday. It said Hun Manet will arrive in the country on September 14th. It added the visit is at the invitation of Premier Li Qiang.
The ministry also said President Xi Jinping will meet with the Cambodian prime minister during his stay.
Hun Manet announced his travel plans during a rally with workers. The event was held in southern Cambodia last Saturday.
The prime minister revealed he will attend the China-ASEAN Expo. The conference is scheduled to begin on Thursday in Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Province.
This will be Hun Manet's second overseas trip, since he took office in August. The ASEAN summit was his first.
The prime minister also plans to attend the Belt and Road summit in Beijing next month.
Hun Manet succeeded his father as prime minister. Hun Sen ruled the country for nearly four decades.
Cambodia apparently wants to show it will continue to place importance on strengthening ties with China, even though it has a new leader.

Tokyo's Shibuya Ward is asking people to refrain from coming to the area near Shibuya Station to celebrate Halloween around October 31.
Shibuya Mayor Hasebe Ken spoke to reporters on Tuesday about measures the ward intends to take to deal with crowds of young people and foreign visitors who congregate near the station around the holiday.
The ward is stepping up vigilance as more tourists are expected on the first Halloween since the government downgraded the coronavirus in May.
By ordinance, drinking in public places such as parks and roads near Shibuya Station will be restricted from October 27 to November 1.
Convenience stores and other establishments in those areas will be asked to refrain from selling alcohol on October 28 and 31, when the number of visitors is expected to peak.
About 100 security staff will be deployed near the station to urge people to keep moving.
Hasebe said the ward has a strong sense of crisis about securing safety as October is the tourist season and extreme congestion is expected.

BUSINESS TYCOON'S BID COULD RESHAPE TAIWAN ELECTION
Billionaire Terry Gou recently announced that he will run in Taiwan’s presidential election in January. Gou is the founder of Hon Hai, also known as Foxconn. The company is one of the world's biggest contract electronic manufacturers. Gou could split the anti-government vote. That would ensure that the ruling Democratic Progressive Party’s candidate, Vice President Lai Ching-te, becomes the island’s next president.
We spoke with Chen Fang-Yu, an assistant professor of political science at Taipei’s Soochow University.
